"I planted the seed... but God made it grow." I Cor. 3:6

Every now and then it is good to step back and take stock of one's life.

In our relationship to society as Christians, what is the purpose of our lives: to reflect or to define culture? All too often we mirror our culture rather than impact it. We read the same news, watch the same programs, react the same ways, and do the same things as those around us.

If this is too much the case, perhaps our salt is in danger of having lost its savor.

"Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice." Psalm 112:5

"Whereas mysticism placed its emphasis on the journey inward, Luther stressed the importance of breaking out of the self into service of others." Donald Bloesch

Truth is so good, so wholesome, so sensible -- our minds ought to be "captured" by its profound beauty. Yet why is it that we so earnestly pursue the world's manifold distractions when in our hearts we know it leads only to futility, vanity and emptiness?

"Positive Thinking" and "Possibility Thinking" are not the same thing. We do not deny our mountains... We simply refuse to accept them as final.

Thought from a dream I once had: Blessed is the man who loves the truth more than anything.

"Many lives remain unfulfilled because of a lack of courage in affirming one's inner convictions in spite of all obstacles."
Paul Tournier

"To live into the future means to leap into the unknown."
Rollo May

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me bless His holy name. He has done great things."
